BELLEVUE, Wash. (AP) _ Expedia Inc. (EXPE) on Thursday reported second-quarter profit of $449.6 million.

The Bellevue, Washington-based company said it had profit of $3.38 per share. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, were 89 cents per share.

The results beat Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of 12 analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 85 cents per share.

The online travel company posted revenue of $1.66 billion in the period, matching Street forecasts.

Expedia shares have increased 26 percent since the beginning of the year, while the Standard & Poor’s 500 index has risen 2.5 percent. In the final minutes of trading on Thursday, shares hit $107.60, an increase of 32 percent in the last 12 months.
