EUGENE, Ore. (AP) _ State water officials are replacing two malfunctioning gate motors at Leaburg Dam.

The Eugene Register-Guard reports (http://bit.ly/1KicN6b ) the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission ordered the replacements after one hydraulic motor failed in December and another malfunctioned.

Eugene Water & Electric replaced one of the three motors with an electric one after it failed in 2012, and the two other replacements will shift to electric as well.

Existing reserves and capital budgets will pay the $5.7 million price tag of replacing the motors. The project is expected to be completed by mid-2016.
