MIAMI — Jackson Health System teamed up with Miami-Dade County to kick off National Breast Cancer Awareness Month by unveiling Jackson’s new, digital Mobile Mammogram Unit that can take state-of-the-art breast imaging capabilities to the most underserved communities, as well as to workplaces and events.

“We’re bringing the best equipment to the people and places where it’s needed most,” said Carlos A. Migoya, Jackson Health System CEO.

Jackson’s digital Mobile Mammogram Unit – the only one of its kind in the county – was on display Oct. 2 at the Stephen P. Clark Center, along with a pink Miami-Dade Police Department vehicle, also a pink Public Works and Waste Management garbage truck, and a pink Transit Metrobus.

Migoya was joined by Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos A. Gimenez, members of the Board of County Commissioners, Jackson Health System breast health physicians and staff, breast cancer survivors and activists to take part in a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the unit.
