ev-clay-web.jpgMIAMI GARDENS — Florida Memorial University (FMU) is applauding Sophonie Gaspard and Sherelle Stephens as recipients of the Ev Clay Scholarship from the Miami chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA). The award was established in 1985 in memory of Everett A. Clay, a Miami public relations pioneer. The two Communications students earned $1,500 during the organization’s 25th Annual Endowment Luncheon.

Gaspard, a graduating senior and Fort Lauderdale, native communicated her appreciation for the award, saying “This scholarship allowed me to showcase what I have learned in college.” Stephens, a Hampton, Va., native, said she also was grateful for the scholarship and noted, “It relieves the stress of worrying about my financial situation and allows me to focus more on school.”

Both students are members of FMU’s nationally-recognized chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America.
