TALLAHASSEE (AP) — A poll in the Florida governor's race finds the attorney general's challenge to the federal health care overhaul isn’t sitting well with independent voters.

Republican Attorney General Bill McCollum is the likely GOP nominee for governor. He's also among more than a dozen state attorneys general threatening to sue over health care.

The Quinnipiac University poll released Monday, April 19 found 41 percent of independent voters said the challenge would make them less likely to vote for McCollum, compared with 27 percent who said they were more likely to vote for him.

The poll found McCollum with a shrinking lead over Democratic Chief Financial Officer Alex Sink in the governor's race.

The poll of 1,250 Florida voters was taken April 8-13 and had a margin of error of plus or minus 2.8 percentage points.
