MIAMI — At the new farmers market at Arcola Lakes Library in the West Little River neighborhood, residents will find fresh, locally and sustainably grown fruits, vegetables, eggs, smoothies, juices and locally prepared baked goods from local growers and vendors.
The farmers’ market opened Dec. 8
at the library, 8240 N.W. Seventh Ave., and will continue every
Saturday through April 13 from noon - 3 p.m. All vendors will accept
cash and Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) cards.
The farmers’ market is sponsored by a U.S. Department of Agriculture grant awarded to Youth L.E.A.D., and Urban Greenworks through Health Foundation of South Florida, with the support of Miami-Dade Commissioner Jean Monestime’s office and the Miami-Dade County
Public Library System, to improve the quality of life by bringing fresh, quality produce closer to them.
“I urge everyone to come out to enjoy the wonderful new farmers’ market,” Commissioner Monestime said.
“District 2 residents will have an opportunity to buy locally produced fruits, vegetables and baked goods at this market. We all know the health benefits these fresh products offer,” he said.
