The cleanup will be held on Saturday, April 13 from 8 a.m. - 12 noon. Volunteers will meet at Cunningham Park, located at the corner of S Avenue and 30th Street.

Davis, elected last month to his first term in office, will work alongside volunteers who will focus on the perimeter of the area, which includes the neighborhoods of Monroe Heights and Datura Park.

Davis said he has participated in the bi-annual event for several years, and when Site Coordinator Bernice Wooten of Neighbors United called, he leapt at the chance to help again.

“It is an honor to work with Neighbors United, though in a new capacity,” the new councilman said. He will contribute $350 in District 5 Community Benefits funds to the effort.

Each volunteer will receive a free commemorative T-shirt and lunch; all cleanup supplies will be provided. Volunteers can register on site and more are welcomed. Youths under age 17 need a parent’s signed permission. Students will earn four community service hours.

The event is one of dozens of cleanups planned across Palm Beach County as part of the Great American Cleanup, including those at Phil Foster Park and Ocean Reef Park in the city.
