As people around the nation own up to the brutality, racism and treason the Confederate flag represents, hundreds gathered in Loxahatchee to show their allegiance and support of the rag.

TRAIN VS. SUV

Frank Alexandre, 25, of Boynton Beach drove around the safety gate of the FEC train tracks, but never made it across.  He had been running late for work and the train struck his vehicle, ejecting him. Alexandre was killed.  The crash happened at the crossing near Woolbright Road and Dixie Highway.

Broward County

John QuintonSCANDAL BREWING

John Quinton is a recreational programmer for the City of Fort Lauderdale’s Parks and Recreation Department. He has filed bias complaints alleging a white female, with no experience, was promoted over him. Quinton has now filed a whistleblower complaint alleging a half dozen or so workers have been paid for years, even though they never showed up for work. He also contends records were falsified to justify to the pay. The cover is worse than the act.

Tomas SanchezNEW CHIEF

Hollywood City Manager Wazir Ishmael appointed Tomas Sanchez as chief of the city’s police department. Sanchez is a veteran of the department and popular with rank-and-file officers. Former Chief Frank Fernandez resigned in May to accept a position with the city of Coral Gables.

 

 

Wayne BartonGROCERY GIVE-A-WAY

Come one, come all. Wayne Barton, founder of the Wayne Barton Study Center, has collaborated with Sheriff Scott Israel, the Broward Sheriff’s Office and Cox Media Group to provide free groceries and household items to people around the county. These Grocery Give-a-Way food distributions are assisting families throughout South Florida. The next Grocery Give-A-Way will take place Saturday, July 25, at Greater Bethel AME Church, 370 N Deerfield Ave, Deerfield Beach. Spread the word and bring bags or carts to carry the food away.

Miami-Dade County

Erick Padron 1ALLEGED FIRE STARTER

Law enforcement officers arrested and charged Erick Padron with starting brush fires around South Florida.

Forestry department officials saw Padron taking pictures at the scenes of numerous fires and became suspicious. Following an investigation, Padron is charged with first- and second-degree arson.

 

Sabine Raymonvil 1POLICE PORN

Police Officer Sabine Raymonvil, 30, an eight-year veteran of the Miami Police Department, is under investigation after discovering pornographic movies in which she performed. The department is investigating, and Raymonvil is prohibited from discussing the case.

SUSPECT ARRESTED

Jeremiah Williams, 16, was turned in by his mother in the rape and beating death of Francis Harris, a 53-year-old mentally incapacitated woman. Harris’ body was found in a vacant home in south Miami-Dade County. The investigation continues.

Monroe County

DANGEROUS DRUGS

The Monroe County Medical Examiner’s Office and other officials are sounding the alarm about the increase in heroin use. Heroin-related deaths are also on the rise. With flakka and now heroin, its a volatile situation that is likely to get worse.

MAN DEAD

The body of Timothy Johnson, 53, was found floating in the water at Murray Nelson Government Center in Key Largo. Johnson lived on a houseboat in the area. A friend discovered the body and called police. The investigation is ongoing.

UBER ARRESTS?

Drivers of the ride-sharing service Uber in Key West will face up to 60 days in jail and a possible $500 fine under a city ordinance that took effect July 1. The new law requires Uber drivers to obtain and carry a “passenger vehicle-for-hire license.”
