FORT LAUDERDALE — A wonderland of joy and laughter was created during the sixth annual A Prom to Remember, a prom for South Florida teens battling cancer. Hundreds of kids attended the Alice in Wonderland themed event at The Ritz-Carlton Fort Lauderdale and enjoyed dinner, dancing, entertainment and fun photo opportunities. With help from sponsors, everything was provided to the teens to make it a night to remember, free of charge, including formalwear, salon services and limousine transportation.
More than 200 teens attended this year’s event who receive treatment from area hospitals in Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach County, including Chris Evert Children’s Hospital, Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital, Miami Children’s Hospital, Baptist Children’s Hospital, Palms West Hospital, St. Mary’s Medical Center and Alex’s Place at Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center.
“It takes many dedicated volunteers and community partners and sponsors to make this memorable evening possible,” said Brandon Opre, founder and president of the Unforgettable Prom Foundation. “As we look forward to the planning of our 2016 prom, I encourage members of the community to join one of the many task forces to help us with fundraising and planning.”
Sponsors include Doctor’s Choice Pharmacy, The Ritz-Carlton Fort Lauderdale, Blue Martini, Broward Health, Macy’s, Daoud’s Fine Jewelry, Events by Vento Designs, Payless ShoeSource, All My Sons Moving Company, Ameriprise Financial, Brandamos, Walgreens, Aventura Limo, Pepsi, Men’s Wearhouse and Pierson Grant Public Relations.
