MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – When two black men were led out of a Philadelphia Starbucks in handcuffs for essentially doing what people go to Starbucks to do, the incident presented an opportunity for a national conversation about racial bias and all its consequences. The Starbucks Corporation has scheduled a training to occur at all its stores on May 29. Locally, a forum will allow South Floridians to learn more about how implicit bias impacts many areas of society, and what they can do individually to challenge this way of thinking and behaving.

“It’s Bigger than Starbucks – A Unity360 Community Dialogue on Racial Bias in America,” is scheduled for Tuesday, May 29, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Miami Shores Community Church, 9823 NE 4th Ave., Miami Shores. The event is free; however, registration is suggested via Eventbrite.
