MIAMI – For the last eight years, the Little Haiti Optimist Foundation and Chef Creole have been bringing joy and smiles to families during the holidays through their annual Christmas Toy Drive. And they continued the tradition this year On Saturday, Dec. 16, the Little Haiti Optimist Foundation and Chef Creole distributed 200 bikes and over 800 toys with the help of its network of support, including volunteers, wonderful donors and sponsors.

“The generous donations allow us to provide gifts to children who would go without during the holidays and I am blessed by being a blessing,” said Chef Creole owner Wilkinson “Ken” Sejour.

This year families gathered at Chef Creole flagship restaurant located at 200 NW 54 Street in Miami to watch their children’s smiling faces as they received their Christmas gifts and a special performance from The Hip Hop Kidz.

The event benefited 1,000 children from the Little Haiti area and the surrounding communities.

“Our kids always surprise us with their gratitude and excitement making this annual event worth the effort,” said Little Haiti Optimist Foundation Founder Marie Louissaint.

According to organizers, the drive is not just about the gifts that children receive, it is about the gift of hope and possibilities realized.

Many of the children who’ve participated in the toy drive are disadvantaged and come from challenged backgrounds, often times going without luxuries like new toys, bikes, skate boards and video games.

Sejour and Loussaint said the expressions of gratitude on the faces of the children are truly touching and watching their faces light up with joy and excitement is an honor.
