NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. (AP) _ Rutgers University’s board has approved a plan to build a multi-use men’s and women’s basketball facility and give the school’s football team exclusive use of a refurbished Hale Center.

The board did not immediately list a cost for the changes approved Thursday as part of a 15-year master plan across all three campuses. The board says that the money will be raised through fundraising and donations.

The multi-use facility also will house wrestling, gymnastics, and volleyball. Men’s and women’s soccer, women’s tennis and women’s lacrosse will be housed in new facilities to be built under the bleachers at the south end zone of High Point Solutions Stadium.

With Rutgers entering its second year in the Big Ten, upgrades to the facilities has become a priority to compete in a major conference.
