This fundraising event commemorates the innumerable contributions of M. Athalie Range. The beloved “Ma Range,” an institution in South Florida’s black community, was particularly fond of the arts and its impact on local youth.

Hence the mission behind the gala and its headliners, the nationally recognized Dillard Center for the Arts Jazz Ensemble.

Individuals may purchase VIP tickets at $150 which includes a VIP reception, honoree program and premium seating in orchestra; or general tickets $75 which include the performance only in mezzanine seating.

For tickets, sponsorship levels or more information call 305-576-3790 or visit the M. Athalie Range Foundation’s Facebook page.

The 2012 fundraiser will honor four of South Florida’s most well-respected community leaders for their exemplary lifetime achievements and contributions to the past, present and future.

This year’s award recipients are: Thelma Gibson as “The Ground Breaker,” H.T. Smith as “The Change Agent,” Bill Diggs as “The Maverick” and Marlon Hill as “The Bridge Builder.”

The event will be hosted by NBC-6 news anchor Trina Robinson. Reflecting the foundation’s commitment to inspiring youth in the arts, the event features a special concert with the award-winning DCA Jazz Ensemble, which under the direction of Christopher Dorsey has earned a reputation as one of the finest jazz bands in the country.
