health__web.jpgMIAMI — Parents can get a jump start on one of the busiest times of the year by bringing their children to Jackson North Medical Center’s Back-To-School Health Fair on Saturday, July 27, 9 a.m.- 2 p.m., at the center, 160 N.W. 170th St., North Miami Beach.

The event is free and open to the public, and attendees will get a special treat — a chance to meet Miami Heat forward James Jones. The Florida Department of Health in Miami-Dade County will be on hand offering free immunizations to children under 18 years of age accompanied by parents or guardians. Attendees are urged to arrive early – there are a limited number of vaccines available. At the fair, there will also be free screenings for adults including a limited number of mammograms as well as blood pressure checks, cholesterol and glucose screenings, foot exams and back-to-school physicals for children under 18. Testing for PAD (peripheral artery disease) will also be available.

Kids of all ages can take part in games with prizes, hair art, glitter tattoos and a photo booth. There will be a Teddy Bear Hospital where children can pretend to be doctors and nurses while caring for stuffed bears.
