Florida Blue is the state’s BlueCross BlueShield plan, and more than 100 of its South Florida employees will join SFLUM at Branches Fulford, the afterschool and youth development program, housed by the Fulford United Methodist Church in North Miami Beach.

Branches offers mentoring, tutoring, homework help and enrichment to children and youth from at-risk families in the North Miami Beach area, focusing on providing a safe and loving environment for students to foster their longterm success.

On Oct. 3, Branches Fulford will host Florida Blue employees who volunteer each year for a “United Way Day of Caring” and community service. Several top executives from Florida Blue’s headquarters will join the fun, including CEO Pat Geraghty, to help support regional employees and the company’s commitment to the South Florida community.

Led by South Florida Market President Penny Shaffer, the employees will kick off the day at 8 a.m. and work until about 1 p.m., landscaping, painting, cleaning and generally beautifying Branches Fulford and the Fulford United Methodist Church facility.

The day will be capped off with a catered luncheon and celebration in appreciation of Florida Blue’s commitment to the community and Branches Fulford.
