DAVIE- Miami Dolphins wide receiver Chad Johnson was arrested Saturday night on a domestic violence charge. He is accused of head butting his wife, Evelyn Lozano, during an argument in front of their Davie home.
Davie Police said Johnson admitted to the head butting, but said it was an accident.
Lozada is one of the stars of the reality TV program "Basketball Wives." She was treated for a minor cut on her forehead at a local hospital and released.
The couple reportedly got into an argument over a receipt for a box of condoms Lozano found in Johnson’s car. Johnson was still being held in the Broward County Jail on Sunday morning and will not be released until facing a judge.
He is charged with domestic violence battery, a misdemeanor.
Johnson signed with the Dolphins in June after he was released by New England. A six-time Pro Bowl receiver with Cincinnati, he caught only 15 passes in 15 games for the Patriots last year after they acquired him in a trade for a pair of draft picks.
