paint.jpgFORT LAUDERDALE — Destination Fort Lauderdale will be the theme of a juried fine art competition at the Greater Fort Lauderdale/Broward County Convention Center, coordinated on behalf of the convention center by the North Beach (NOBE) Art Gallery.

The open competition will provide a wonderful platform for exhibiting art of Fort Lauderdale, a destination known for its scenic beaches, tropical landscapes, picturesque waterways featuring mansions and yachts, historical landmarks, and many beautiful parks.

The contest is open to all artists 18 years of age and above. Online entries must be submitted by Sept. 1, 2013, and mailed CDs and DVDs must be postmarked by Aug. 25, 2013.

Entries are being accepted in seven categories: Seascape/Ocean/Waterways; Landscape/Sceney; Cityscape/Urban/Architectural; Nature/Plants/Flowers; Animals/Mammals/Birds/Wildlife/Marine life; Figurative/People/Portraiture; and Photography (subjects are inclusive of categories 1-6).

Seventy semi-finalists (top 10 per category) will be announced on Sept. 15, 2013. Final judging, awards and the exhibition opening will be held on Thursday, Sept. 26, 2013.  

Winners will receive cash awards and prizes, and their works will be exhibited at the convention center from October 2013 through March, 2014. Winners also will receive online exposure, advertising and publicity promotion.

Top artists in each category will additionally have a solo exhibition and representation by NOBE Art
Gallery. Their work will also be published in the convention center Awards Book.

Judging will be based on creativity, skill, technique, and artistic attributes.

Seven artists will win a Best of Category Award (one artist per each category). There also will be a first place Best of Show Award winner, second place Judges Award winner, third place Merit Award winner and one Popular Vote award determined through social media.
