Marlins Manatees and Mermaid Auditions: The finalists from the Mermaids Open Audition will enter an intensive week long boot camp, followed by the Mermaids Final Audition Show which will be held at the Center Fountain inside Seminole Paradise at the Seminole Hard Rock Casino & Hotel on Friday, Jan. 28th at 9:00 p.m. The 2011 Mermaids Squad will be announced at the conclusion of the Final Audition Show.


Women of Calypso: This performance celebrates women's contributions to the classic Caribbean art form of Calypso – a musical world traditionally dominated by men. Three prominent women of the genre – Singing Saundra, Queen Fayola and Princess Kizzie – will perform their celebrated form with a unique twist at 8 p.m. at the Miami Dade College North Campus William and Joan Lehman Theater, 11380 N.W. 27 Ave. in Miami. Young Frankenstein Musical: The Kravis Center presents the musical comedy that won Best Broadway Musical in 2008. Go Red For Women: Macy’s and the American Heart Association want shoppers and supporters to wear red on National Red Day to bring awareness to their mission of helping fight women’s heart disease. Macy’s is celebrating seven years as national sponsor and will offer exclusive designer fashion, shopping promotions, special in-store events and a whole-hearted campaign with Facebook dedicated to raising funds for the AHA and increasing awareness among women and their loved ones. 

Rotary Auction Fundraiser: The Homestead Rotary Club is raising funds for local scholarships with an auction and dinner at 6:30 p.m. at Harris Field at the corner of U.S. 1 and SW 312th St. in Homestead. Admission tickets are $25. The night includes: drawing for a boat, silent auctions, a professional life auction, raffles, door prizes and entertainment. The principal draw of the evening is an 18 foot Redfisher flats boat with new trailer and a 115 HP Yamaha engine with a $20,000 value.  Raffle tickets are $50 each, but are limited in number.
