State election officials have come up with a list that is based on a handful of criteria, including how quickly they reported election results during the Jan. 31 presidential primary.

The state association that represents election supervisors sent a letter to Scott on Thursday that called the survey “flawed'' and said the rankings could undermine voter confidence during this critical election year.

Ann McFall, a Republican elections supervisor from Volusia County, said the effort reminded her of the actions taken by former Secretary of State Katherine Harris during the chaotic recount of the 2000 presidential election. She said it appears Scott is trying to take control of the election process.
