The Polk County Sheriff's Office says 25-year-old Tamesha Miles and a cousin, gave a ride to a friend in Lakeland on Oct. 30. When they arrived, the friend went inside the home.

That's when investigators say a man wearing black clothing approached the victim's vehicle and fired several shots, striking Miles in the torso, pelvis and left thigh. She is in critical, but stable condition.

Deputies identified Terry Lee Thomas as the shooter. He was arrested Saturday on charges including attempted murder. They said he's a suspect in another killing.

Thomas is being held without bail. It's unclear if he had an attorney.
