annnesby_web.jpgMIAMI — The Sweet Home Missionary Baptist church celebrates 62 years of serving the community with a gospel concert and a women’s conference. Activities kick off on Friday, Feb. 21 at 7:30 p.m., with a concert featuring Grammy award-winning gospel artist Ann Nesby.

Nesby is the former lead singer of Sounds of Blackness and is a prolific songwriter, with hit songs recorded by artists Patti Labelle and Gladys Knight. Also appearing that evening will be Stephen D. English and the Fellowship Community Choir of Miami Gardens. 

Sweet Home’s anniversary worship services on Sunday, Feb. 23 at 7:30 a.m. and 11 a.m., will have Dr. Walter T. Richardson, Pastor Emeritus of Sweet Home, as guest speaker.

The celebration continues the following week with the “Jesus I’m Desperate for You” women’s conference.  The conference opens Friday, Feb. 28 at 7:30 p.m., with a night of worship featuring national recording artist Gia Wyre. 

The conference continues Saturday March 1 from 8:30 a.m.- 4 p.m., with a series of forums and workshops.

The conference features keynote speaker Suzette Caldwell, co-pastor of Windsor Village United Methodist Church of Houston, Texas and the author of bestselling book Praying to Change Your Life.

“At the conference, we seek to open the doors and minister to women of all cultural backgrounds and denominations,” said Alicia Johnson, first lady of Sweet Home Missionary Baptist Church and conference hostess.
