Gov. Charlie Crist said he'll meet with his successor Tuesday to discuss the transition to a new Republican administration.

Crist, who was defeated last week in his independent bid for a U.S. Senate seat, said he remains unsure about his future plans after leaving office in early January. He said he is looking forward to a private life.

Crist said Scott, like former Gov. Jeb Bush, comes into the governor's office without any previous experience in an elected role, but added that Bush fared successfully and he expects Scott to do the same.

Crist didn't hint if he would return to politics, but noted that he's just 54 years old and optimistic.
