The $45 ticket price (at itickets.com, ticketweb.com) also covers access to the Aquatic Park and a chance to hear up-and-coming artists on the Unsigned Artist Stage.

Community organizations such as Father Focus will present workshops, voter registration and a health fair. For more information call 855-464-4876 or visit gospelintheson.com

The lineup for the festival also includes JARS of Clay, a Christian Contemporary group; Tye Tribbett, an Urban Gospel soloist; KJ52, a Christian hip-hop artist;  Carlene Davis, a  Caribbean Hall of Famer and Reggae Gospel singer; and UnMasKd, a local five-piece Christian Contemporary rock band.

Rising gospel music star Patrick Dopson, often called the “white Fred Hammond,” and who is being managed by the Fred Hammond camp, also is appearing at Gospel in the SON. Dopson released his critically acclaimed album Open The Heavens on May 1 through his independent label, Oilonit Music, with the song Keep Me climbing into Billboard’s top 30 and Open The Heavens being selected by Maranatha! Music for the Top 25 Gospel Praise & Worship Songs 2012 Edition CD.

Hammond, who has not visited South Florida for many years, has a new album, God, Love & Romance, that went on sale in January and has a breakout hit single, I Feel Good. His smash hit single, Dwelling Place, from the album Living in the Word, provides inspiration to fans worldwide.

Few gospel artists can boast of the consistency of sales, radio airplay and concert appearances that Hammond has achieved over his nearly 30-year career. As CEO of Face to Face Productions and the FHammond Music Label, he has served as producer on more than 80 album projects.

Colin Forbes is director of Ministry and Productions for Gospel in the SON Outreach and founder of Class Act Management Group Inc., organizers of the festival of which the South Florida Times is a sponsor.

“Gospel in the SON Outreach is a family organization that is about families and staging this event underscores our commitment to families,” said Forbes.
