As summer vacation ends, parents of students who are looking to fulfill last-minute health requirements or to simply look into their children’s well-being can find help at the Miami Children’s Hospital Back to School Health Fair Saturday, Aug. 21.

The fair will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Charles Hadley Park, 1300 NW 50th St. and will offer vaccinations, diabetes tests and other health screenings and sessions on weight management.

“This is designed to deal with every aspect of kids’ health,” said Byron Smith, vice president of the Billy Raven Foundation, a community outreach organization sponsoring the event with the hospital, the African Heritage Cultural Art Center and the Miami Police Department.

“We’re here to serve the community,” Smith said.

Other services will also be available at the event, including a state Department of Motor Vehicles booth offering driver license renewals.

The fair, now in its 14th year, is free and does not require registration. For more information, call Deborah Del-Flavio, 305-666-6511 ext. 6880 or Smith, 305-491-3775.
