PORT-AU-PRINCE — Former President Bill Clinton on a visit announced a grant aimed at improving care at hospitals in the capital.
He said the Clinton Bush Haiti Fund, named for him and former President George W. Bush, would provide $442,100 to improve training for radiologists, lab techs and pathologists. The 16-month training program will be administered by a U.S. nonprofit, Project Medishare. Clinton announced the grant July 1 during a visit to the Hospital Bernard Mevs, one of the country's only trauma centers. He has been a frequent visitor to the country since the January 2010 earthquake. He was asked by President Barack Obama to work with Bush to lead a fundraising effort and is a special U.N. envoy to the country.
