alice-day_web.jpgInternational recording artist Alice Day and The Sunshine Jazz Organization of South Florida will present the 2010 South Florida Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony & Concert at 4 p.m. Saturday, June 4, at the Joseph Caleb Auditorium, 5400 NW 22nd Ave. in Miami’s Liberty City neigh- borhood.

This year’s inductees and performers will include Ira Sullivan, Len Pace, Mel Dancy,    Jaco    Pastorius, Charles “Charlie” Austin and Eric Knight. Recognizing their accomplishments and con- tributions to jazz is Day’s brainchild. It was designed as a “thank you” to honor those who are making it possible for jazz to continue.

“We are excited to celebrate these awesome masters of a truly American Classical art form, jazz,” Day said in a statement announcing the event.

“This year’s inductees are some of South Florida’s legends, local pioneers who have paved the way for present and future musicians to play and progress in the world of jazz.”

The first induction ceremony took place in June 2009, when Julien “Cannon- ball” Adderly, Charles “China” Valles, Jesse Jones Jr., Othello Molineaux, Lenny Zeif, Day and the late Sandrell Rivers became the first inductees.
