macys-shopping_web.jpgThe giant department store chain Macy’s announced it is holding its sixth annual “Shop for a Cause” charity shopping event on Saturday and at select stores on Friday. By purchasing a $5 shopping pass to the event, shoppers will support a charity and receive 25 percent off most regular, sale and clearance purchases at the store or online all day.

Passes are being sold at Macy’s stores through Saturday and at macys.com and proceeds from those tickets will benefit the March of Dimes. The nonprofit organization for pregnancy and baby health is the exclusive national beneficiary of this year’s event.

Shoppers who want to purchase a ticket to benefit a specific non-profit organization can look up participating charities at www.macys.com/shopforacause. The entire proceeds from the ticket sales will benefit the individual charity selling the tickets.

Macy’s said the initiative has raised more than $38 million for charities across the country since 2006.
