Gov. Rick Scott issued an executive order Thursday removing Monticello Mayor Idella Scott from office. The governor and mayor are not related.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement arrested Idella Scott on Wednesday and charged her with forgery, uttering a forged instrument and grand theft.

According to the FDLE, Scott was working as a deputy clerk at the Jefferson County Tax Collector's Office in January when she deposited a check for nearly $700 into her personal bank account.

The check was supposed to be a payment for the renewal of a vehicle registration.
