miami_womans_club.jpgMIAMI (AP) _ The Miami Woman's Club has issued an apology for past racism during its 108-year history.

The apology Monday, Nov. 10 came nearly four decades after the club's membership was opened to women of color.

Club president Noreen Timoney said it’s part of a larger initiative to address cultural, economic and environmental issues in the community. The first step, she said, was confronting a troubled past.
