ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) _ New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo says Washington's debt crisis has hurt consumer confidence and the economic recovery, but he won't blame President Barack Obama.
A day after the popular Democratic governor was host of a Manhattan fundraiser for the president, Cuomo says Washington succeeded only by avoiding the huge mistake of default.
Cuomo says his key economic indicator is consumer confidence. And the political fight that put the nation's credit in the balance was played out embarrassingly worldwide.
Cuomo wouldn't fuel suggestions by some New York Democrats that he should challenge Obama. Cuomo says Obama should and will be re-elected.
