barack_obama_32.jpgWASHINGTON (AP) _ A new television ad from President Barack Obama's re-election campaign is linking Republican rival Mitt Romney to the education cuts in a budget plan by GOP running mate Paul Ryan.

The ad doesn't name Ryan. But it criticizes Romney for backing plans to cut college aid for nearly 10 million students, which is what the White House says would happen under Ryan's budget.

Romney has sought to distance himself from Ryan's proposed cuts by saying he is running on his own budget.

The ad also criticizes Romney for saying young people should borrow money from their parents if they need it for college or to start a business.

It's the first ad by Obama's campaign since Ryan joined the GOP ticket. It's airing in Colorado, Iowa, Nevada, Ohio and Virginia.
