girleating_fc.jpgWhat’s the first thing that comes to mind when you hear the two words health and fitness?

Perhaps you instantly conjure up images of strenuous daily exercise and eating little more than lettuce and tofu. While that may be part of a regimen for someone out there, the concept promoted this year as NBC6/Telemundo 51’s Health & Fitness Expo is one of well being for the body, mind and spirit.

In what has quickly grown into a premier event, the third annual expo takes place Saturday and Sunday, April 26 and 27 at the Miami Beach Convention Center.

What will visitors find this year?

Well, to kick it all off, join us by tuning into NBC6 Friday at 7:30 p.m. as I, along with Roxanne Vargas and Joel Connable, bring you a special, half-hour preview of what you’ll experience when you visit the Expo.

To help South Floridians remain physically healthy, a number of medical vendors will be on hand to offer health screenings for diabetes, cholesterol, bone density and fat levels.

Some of these screenings, which can cost a pretty penny at the doctor’s office, will be available for free at the Expo.

You’ll also find information on acupressure, be able to speak with licensed nutritionists, and learn valuable information on cancer risks, as well as ways to keep yourself and your family healthy.

And this year, the fitness portion of the expo isn’t just about physical activities. Sure, there will be plenty of vendors on hand to introduce you to scuba, kayaking, rock climbing and exercise routines, but this year some of the emphasis will also be on keeping all aspects of your life healthy – including your finances.

It’s not always easy to navigate through all the products and services out there in the banking world, so you can use this weekend to learn a bit more about managing your pocketbook. Keeping a healthy wallet can go a long way toward reducing stress, which can help you avoid a host of stress-related health problems.

It’s sure to be a fun and educational weekend for everyone. And while you’re at it, stop by the NBC6/Telemundo 51 booth to meet your favorite on-air personalities.  We’ll all be on hand throughout the weekend to help you enjoy your time at the Expo, and get the most out of the experience!

See ya at the Expo!
