The Orlando Sentinel reports that Leonce Charles missed his initial court appearance Sunday because he was taken to a local hospital. Authorities have not released further details. The 48-year-old faces second-degree murder charges.

Orange County authorities say Charles turned himself and told investigators he stabbed Freus with a knife during a confrontation about alleged infidelities. He also said Freus was using Voodoo to control and sicken him.

The report says three of the couples' four children were home at the time. Freus' 18-year-old son found her lying on her bed with multiple stab wounds in her chest and legs.

Charles is being held without bond.
