Scheduled for Saturday, Feb 15 at the Miami-Dade County Fairgrounds, 10901 SW 24th St., Miami, the festival gates will open at 12:30 p.m., with two stages featuring reggaeton, reggae and dancehall artists.

Hill, a recording artist, musician, producer and actress, established her reputation in the hip-hop world as the lone female member of Fugees. In 1998, she launched her solo career with The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, which earned Hill five Grammy Awards.

Following the success of her debut album, she largely dropped out of public view, in part due to her displeasure with fame and the music industry.

After a four-year hiatus, she released MTV Unplugged No. 2.0, a live recording of “deeply personal songs,” according to lyricsfreak.com. Hill is the mother of five children with Rohan Marley, the fourth son of reggae icon Bob Marley.

The annual 9 Mile Music Festival is an all-day event honoring the life and philosophy of the legendary reggae star, Bob Marley.

Started by Bob Marley’s daughter, Cedella Marley Booker, the festival has had other names including The Caribbean Music Festival, finally evolving into what is known today as the 9 Mile Music Festival.

While the show features musical acts from around the world as well as popular local performers, the 9 Mile Music Festival has a humanitarian side. Guests are encouraged to bring four cans of food as part of admission. To date, the festival has collected and donated almost three million cans of food to hunger projects internationally.

This year, canned food collected at admission will benefit Curley’s House of Style Inc., a food bank that provides bulk food to needy families and the homeless throughout Miami-Dade County. It also offers job training skills and access to many social services.

Advance general admission tickets are $57.83 and include all taxes, fees and parking.  Special VIP tickets are available for $179.00 and include a VIP entrance, special viewing area and backstage access.  Tickets are available at 9milemusic-festival.com
