carole_lisa_miller_foster_web.jpgCarole Lisa Miller Foster, a special education teacher at Rodgers Middle School in Riverview in the Tampa area, died of congestive heart failure Friday, March 16, at Brandon Regional Hospital, in Brandon. She was 52.

Foster was a member of the Kappa Iota Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., pledging while attending the University of South Florida, where she obtained a bachelor’s degree in education.

Her husband, Gerald B. Foster, whom she married on July 25, 1981, is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. and she was an Alpha Sweetheart. 

Foster was born in Leesburg, the only child of Robert L. Miller, a retired school principal and administrator,  and the late Hazel C. Miller, a career educator. She accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior at St. Stephens A.M.E. Church in Leesburg and remained a committed Christian throughout her lifetime.

After graduating from Leesburg High School, she moved to Tampa to attend USF. She followed in her parents’ footsteps, spending more than three decades as an educator.  She and her husband settled in Tampa.

Her survivors include her husband; children, Geri Nicole Foster, Robert Fitzgerald Foster and Chad Alexander Foster; and six grandchildren.

Omega Omega Service conducted by Tampa Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 24, at Mt. Olive A.M.E. Church, 1902 W. LaSalle St., Tampa, followed by funeral services at the church.
