Young Elementary and Dr. Robert Ingram Elementary schools put on their game faces recently in Miami-Dade County Commissioner Barbara Jordan’s 5th Annual Brain Blast. The educational competition, which focuses on Science, Math and History, was hosted by longtime cultural activist Dinizulu Gene Tinnie, and the event was coordinated by Kinad, Inc.

“These types of competitions encourage students to pursue higher goals,” said Jordan. “It allows them to work in a team environment and express themselves oratorically, which ultimately gives them a sense of comfort with public speaking.”
Dr. Robert Ingram Elementary School won the 5th Annual Brain Blast competition. For their efforts, each school was awarded $500 and students received a trophy. The Brain Blast was sponsored in part by Brown Development Group, Carrollo Engineers and Sun Life Stadium.
