kwame_kilpatrick.jpegDETROIT (AP) _ A prison warden says former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick is being housed in an air-conditioned hospital room with a private shower at the state's prison system's intake center in Jackson.

Warden Heidi Washington told The Detroit News for a Saturday story that Kilpatrick is being isolated from other inmates at the Charles Egeler Reception and Guidance Center “for management reasons.''

Washington said he'll likely be held there for another one to two weeks before being assigned to a prison.

She denied he is receiving treatment he shouldn't.

Kilpatrick lawyer Arnold Reed said the conditions are “not like a hotel.''

A judge in May sent Kilpatrick to prison for at least 14 months for violating probation in his 2008 obstruction of justice conviction.
