LANSING, Mich. (AP) _ DTE Energy and Consumers Energy have pledged $5 billion each to help businesses grow in Michigan.

Gov. Rick Snyder’s office announced the investments on Thursday.

The investments — made as part of the Pure Michigan Business Connect Program — are aimed at helping bring together suppliers with Michigan-based companies.

Snyder says the commitments “will mean significant growth opportunities for Michigan companies” and he encourages more companies to join the program.

Pure Michigan Business Connect is a public-private alliance of the Michigan Economic Development Corp. along with other state agencies and Michigan companies focused on helping raise capital and connecting businesses.
