pills_web.jpgBLACK PR WIRE — Publix Pharmacy has added another free prescription drug to its growing list, this one to treat high blood pressure.

The pharmacy will offer free 30-day supplies – up to 60 tablets of 2.5 mg and 5 mg or up to 30 tablets of 10 mg – of amlodipine to customers with a prescription for the medication. Amlodipine combination products are excluded.

Amlodipine is a calcium-channel blocker and is commonly used to treat high blood pressure and angina (chest pain).

“The health and wellness of our customers is important to us at the Publix Pharmacy,” said Maria Brous, director of media and community relations. “With health care and prescription costs continuing to rise, medication adherence may prove challenging. We continue to enhance our free prescription programs and pharmacy services to allow our customers to focus on staying healthy and achieving their overall wellness goals.”

Publix Pharmacy also offers the following free medications:

• Lisinopril — an ACE inhibitor used to prevent, treat or improve symptoms of high blood pressure, certain heart conditions, diabetes and certain chronic kidney conditions. Maximum of 30 day supply – up to 60 tablets. Lisinopril-HCTZ combination products excluded.

• Metformin — as part of the company’s Diabetes Management System, up to a 30-day supply of generic immediate-release metformin – up to 120 tablets of 500 mg, or 90 tablets of 850 mg and 1000 mg.

Publix Pharmacy also offers a 14-day supply of the following generic oral antibiotics free:

• amoxicillin

• ampicillin

• ciprofloxacin

  (excludes Ciprofloxacin XR)

• penicillin VK and

• sulfamethoxazole/ Trimethoprim (SMZ- TMP)
