THOMASVILLE, GA — Florida Memorial men’s soccer pulled off a stunning 3-2 upset over Thomas University in double overtime on Friday afternoon at TU Soccer Complex. Florida Memorial used a balanced offensive attack to steal the win. Florida Memorial improved to 6-4 overall and 3-1 in Sun Conference play, while ending a one-game losing streak.

Florida Memorial started the match with two shots in the first half, but Thomas drew first blood in the 24th minute with a score from Severin Abt.  Florida Memorial Gabriel Umansky got the Lions on the board in the 29th minutes of the match to tie the game up at 1-1. The second half went back and forth until the 88th minute of play when Pablo Garcia got his six goal of the season. But Thomas would score with less than 30 seconds in the game to force overtime.

In double overtime Florida Memorial Matias Solari caught Thomas’s defense napping when he kick a shot from the right side of the net and helps the Lions run away with the victory.

Tobias Feurer played the full 90 minutes as goalie while picking up six saves. Alex Condell played goalie for Thomas and Pablo Terminiello played the two overtime for the Lions.
