The Palm Beach County Health Department is a service organization responsible for the health of over one million residents of the county.


The client service philosophy is: “A person in contact with the Palm Beach County Health Department shall be treated with Dignity, Respect, Concern and Consideration. The staff shall be Courteous, Competent, Informed and Responsive to the individual. The organization exists to serve the public and this shall be done to the best of our ability.”

The many and varied core programs of the department include disease prevention and control, environmental public health, school and community health, and health education.

Also, the department shares responsibility for primary care of the medically needy population throughout the county with the private sector by providing millions of hours of service through its seven health centers.

The health centers are federally qualified and are conveniently located from Delray Beach to Jupiter and west to Belle Glade and Pahokee. Counselors are available at the centers to assist individuals with the qualifying criteria.

The services include adult medical, HIV/AIDS testing and counseling, immunizations, family planning, pediatrics, dental, maternity, orthopedics, TB testing and counseling, STD testing and counseling, health care for the homeless and WIC and Nutrition counseling.

Services are provided to individuals who are at, or below, 110 percent of the federal poverty guidelines, in the following areas: emergency shelter, rent or mortgage payments, utility payments, food vouchers, transportation vouchers, adult congregate living facility placement, information and referral and summer lunch programs.
