dentist.jpgFORT LAUDERDALE — Broward County Health Department recently welcomed its first clients in the newly rebuilt Edgar P. Mills Multi-Purpose Center.

The Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Program and Children’s Dental Centers of Broward are now open and serving clients in the new state-of-the-art facility at 900 NW 31st Ave., Fort Lauderdale.

WIC services are available 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and services at Children’s Dental Centers of Broward are available from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Mondays and Wednesdays.

“We are delighted to be among the comprehensive array of community providers offering services to our Broward County residents,” Dr. Paula Thaqi, director of the Broward County Health Department, said in a statement announcing the services.  “This new facility will make our services and programs even more convenient and accessible to all people in Broward County.”

WIC is a nutrition program that provides healthy foods for pregnant, breastfeeding and postpartum women, infants and young children, along with free  nutrition counseling to those who qualify.

WIC also offers breastfeeding support and referrals to health care, immunizations and other community services.

At Children’s Dental Centers of Broward, kids may receive clinical preventative and restorative dental services. Emergency dental care for any child is available during the weekday schedule.
