TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) _ The Republican Party of Florida is firing a firm it hired to help register voters after questions were raised about voters registered by the company.
The Palm Beach Post first reported that Susan Bucher, the supervisor of elections for Palm Beach County, flagged 106 applications turned in by Strategic Allied Consultants.
Bucher has handed the applications over to local prosecutors after her staff noted similar looking signatures, missing information and wrong addresses.
Brian Burgess, a party spokesman, said Wednesday that at least a handful of applications were not valid. He said the party has a zero tolerance regarding allegations of fraud.
Burgess said the company was hired at the request of the Republican National Committee. Federal records show the state party had paid it more than $1.3 million.
