Health department warns Rhode Islanders about bottled water

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) _ The state Department of Health is warning Rhode Islanders about several brands of bottled water that may be contaminated with bacteria.

The Health Department warned consumers Tuesday after Niagara Bottling issued a voluntary recall of water processed in its Pennsylvania facilities between June 10 and 18 over concerns about E. Coli contamination.

The Health Department advises consumers to use other water or to boil the affected water for at least one minute before using it.

The recalled products were distributed to retail outlets in Rhode Island and throughout the U.S.

The products were sold under the names Acadia, Acme, Big Y, Best Yet, 7-11, Niagara, Nature’s Place, Pricerite, Superchill, Morning Fresh, Shaws, Shoprite, Western Beef Blue and Wegman’s.

The Health Department says there’ve been no reports to date indicating these products caused any illness.
