edmonson___web.jpgMiami–Dade County Commissioner Audrey Edmonson will lead a Business Development Mission to Johannesburg, Durban & Cape Town, South Africa, from March 1 until March 9 2014.

The mission, organized by the Economic Development & International Trade Unit of Miami-Dade County and Enterprise Florida Inc., is to foster bilateral trade, commerce, tourism and cultural exchanges between Miami-Dade County and South Africa.

Commissioner Edmonson stated that “Businesses from Miami-Dade will have ample opportunities to network and engage in one-to-one business meetings with their South African counterparts. The Miami-Dade delegation will meet with representatives of the South African Ports Authority to discuss best practices and trade opportunities with PortMiami.

The delegation will also meet with officials of the South African government to renew our request for a South African Consular/Trade Post in Miami as well as discuss re-establishing direct air links between South Africa and Miami with South African Airways.”

PortMiami has been engaged in Sister Seaport Agreements with the Ports of Durban and Cape Town since 2005. Also, Miami-Dade and the City of Cape Town signed a Sister Cities Agreement in September 2013.
