graduation_cap_and_book.jpgMIAMI — The School for Advanced Studies (SAS), a full-time, nationally-recognized, dual-enrollment high school, will hold information/application sessions on Saturday, Sept. 29 and Saturday, Oct. 13, for current 10th grade students who would enter SAS for the 2013-2014 school year.

All Miami Dade School District 10th-grade students with a minimum 3.0 grade point average are invited to apply, and may be admitted for the 11th grade upon passing the college placement test (PERT) administered by Miami Dade College (MDC).
Student selection is based solely on the order in which applicants meet the established criteria up to the point where enrollment limits are reached.
Students attending SAS complete their last two years of high school while attending MDC and, in many cases, simultaneously graduate with both a high school diploma and an Associate of Arts degree from MDC (80 percent of the SAS Class of 2012).
Each semester, students enroll in a minimum of three dual-enrollment college courses taught by MDC faculty and four high school courses, taught by SAS faculty. All high school courses are Advanced Placement courses except for Pre-calculus and Research.
Students receive free tuition and fees, free textbooks, and, if eligible, school bus and Metrorail transportation funded by Miami-Dade County Public Schools.
The SAS is located on four MDC campuses: Homestead, Kendall, North and Wolfson. The SAS Information/Application Meetings will be held:
