Seventy-seven-year-old Lulu Roberts, who is a frequent customer at the salon, believed the “Spa Party” was much needed, especially during these economic times.
“Even though times are tough, I try to do things for myself on a regular basis,” Roberts said. “Women have to learn how to take care of themselves no matter what.”
“Right now with the economy being so bad, a spa day is a luxury for most,” said Williams who has been a stylist for the past two decades. A few years ago, she turned her passion into a full-service salon business which offers hair and nail care, massages, spa treatments and makeovers.
With the downturn of the economy, Williams made the “Spa Party” affordable at $50 so that more people could attend.
“Making it affordable for the client is a way of giving back to the community,” she said.
The team of stylists that assisted with the event included Ashley Strong, Sardebra Wright, Natisha Furgerson, Elda St. Juste, Debra Lucus and Twyla Jhonson.
With the success of the “Spa Party,” Williams is looking forward to offering similar events in the near future. In addition to another Spa Party for women, the Palace will also host a “Men’s Night Out” on Saturday, March 26. The cost of the event will be $100 and will include a full body massage, facial, a manicure or pedicure, complimentary drinks and fine dining.
