Secretary of State Dianna Duran made the announcement Thursday after a liberal-leaning political group said the Republican should resign over what it described as racist jokes in a sample campaign form on the election agency's website.

The form listed "Sheryl Powdrell-Culbertson" as a contributor's last name for a group called the “National Organization of the Beer Drinkers and Guzzlers.''

The name appears to refer to Democratic Rep. Sheryl Williams Stapleton and GOP Rep. Jane Powdrell-Culbert.

The form had "JeffersonDavis" as the contributor's first name, apparently a reference to the Civil War Confederate president.

The employee on leave was a staffer in Duran's office. She said she "will not tolerate any form of racism or bigotry."
