homeless-beauty-day_web.jpgOn a recent Monday morning, residents of Miami Rescue Mission’s Center for Women and Children got special attention.

Six members of the American Aesthetics Association gave the women beauty treatments ranging from haircuts and facials to massages on what was dubbed Beauty Day.

All services were free of cost, with the beauty experts donating their time and services, using products provided by Hialeah-based Aquaroma Skin Care Products.

Many of the women took advantage of all services offered, receiving  haircuts, facials, massage, makeup and manicure.

“I am happy to lend a hand and share my skills,” said volunteer Sonja Gamba. “Today I was able to provide a nice, relaxing massage to people that really need it and cannot always afford it.”

The goal of Beauty Day is to help the residents of the center regain their confidence and teach them how to present themselves when going back into the workforce.

An important part of the 88-year-old Miami Rescue Mission is to help formerly homeless people reconnect with South Florida, a statement said.
Beauty Days will continue on the first Monday of each month.
