Nine superstar hopefuls put their talents on show Saturday during the Young Talent Big Dreams auditions held at the Joseph Caleb Auditorium.
Contestants who performed were Grettle Acevedo, Miraquelle Butler, Javier Castellanes, Kelton Davis, Kimberly Larasiliere, Matha Paula Matute, Esther Merisier, Gregory Sams and Dean Wade.
Judges will announce the winner later for this show, one of six across Miami-Dade County to select the top artist in the 8-17 age group.
Organizers describe Young Talent Big Dreams as the most widespread local youth talent contest in the county’s history.
The contest features eight categories, including individual song, dance, spoken word and musical instrument, and group categories of song, dance, musical groups and instrumental groups.
It is being presented by Actors’ Playhouse at the Miracle Theatre and sponsored by The Children’s Trust.
Six preliminary auditions are being held and the semifinals and finals will take place in February in front of a live audience at the Miracle Theatre in Coral Gables.
